To celebrate the release of Whatever Heather’s Winter 2013 ‘Found in the Forest’ collection, Whatever Heather held a merchandising competition for Red Herring Surf staff members. One staff member from each store participated.

Their brief was as follows:

Select pieces from the new season’s range and design an outfit around them. The judges are seeking the most interesting, original and creative entry so don't be afraid to think outside the square in terms of styling and props.

Staff had 6 days to craft their entry. The prize was a beautiful gift pack of past and present favourites from Whatever Heather.

After much deliberation, and a really tough decision, the winner was announced: Danni from RHS Launceston!

This particular Shannon happens to be a whimsical designer, an advocate of ballet in the forest, a lover of fiercely pretty fashion and a seeker of all things beautiful and interesting. These fancies culminated in the launch of Whatever Heather in the summer of 2008.

Whatever Heather is a confident, youthful label full of intrigue and whimsy. Appearing in publications such as Fashion Journal and Frankie, WH is known for its decidedly feminine outlook with a dash of dark dishevelment, giving the brand its edgy, quirky persona.

WH produces bespoke seasonal ranges which are stocked in select boutiques around Australia including Red Herring Surf!

Shannon creates WH from her attic studio in Hobart's Battery Point, which is filled with all manner of inspiration…flowers, chandeliers, battered crowns, and sometimes (if he fancies) her imperious ginger cat/occasional muse, named Raspberry.

What’s the #1 most played song on your iPod?: Video Games (the Bluejuice like a version cover!)

What is one of your favourite quotes?: Hmmmm, not sure about a quote, but I do love Regina Spektor’s lyrics…such an intriguing perspective on life.

What is your favourite time of day/day of the week/month of the year and why?: Best day of the week by far is Saturday! Mine start with a morning walk and coffee date with my bestie, followed by breakfast in the garden with my sleepyheaded husband.

What sound do you love?: I have to say I love the sound of my cat, Raspberry. Sometimes he coos like a dove and sometimes he kind of barks like a dog…it’s strange but kind of amazing.

If you could throw any kind of party, what would it be like and what would it be for?: If reality wasn’t an issue I would love to throw a Springtime party for my 9 favourite people in the Cotswold Villages in England. We would drink elderflower cocktails and party in a meadow to celebrate the flowering of the bluebells…if only!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?: I would love to learn photography and how to play the piano.

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?: Spare time for me is daydreaming, imagining or just letting my mind wander…I’m a bit of a dreamer.
